(June 9, 2014) - Youthprise’s work is organized around two strategic focus areas: Systems Building and Innovation in Youth Engagement. Its goal in Systems Building is to develop coordinated sustainable systems that provide access to high quality out-of-school time (OST) programs for underserved and under-engaged youth. Its goal in Innovation in Youth Engagement is to authentically engage youth in the design and implementation of quality OST programs, policy, systems, philanthropy, and research and evaluation.
In 2014, Youthprise will prioritize one-year grants to small and mid-size nonprofit youth-serving organizations with operating budgets of less than $2 million. The average grant award will be $25,000. It is unlikely that grants will exceed 10% of an organization’s projected operating budget. Youthprise will continue to evaluate how the composition of the organization’s staff, board, and programs represents the racial and ethnic diversity of its constituents.
Applications for the 2014 Capacity Building Grants will be open online starting June 9th with grant proposals due July 11, 2014. Following a staff and community review process and Board Committee recommendations, the Board of Directors will make final grant decisions at their October 2014 meeting.
