Have some questions about using MCF's new web site? You've come to the right place. Try the instructions below. If you have further questions, contact the webmaster or call 612.338.1989.

Login

Once created, your Login is your e-mail address.

How to create a login:

  1. Select "Why Login?" at the top of the screen
  2. Click on the resulting "Create your own user login" link
  3. On the "Thanks for Creating a Login" page, enter your first and last name and e-mail address
  4. If you are an MCF member, select "Member" and enter your organization; if you are not an MCF member, click "Non-Member"
  5. Select "Submit"

MCF Members

If you are an MCF member, you should see a "Verifying Member Status" message. Upon verification, your new MCF account will be set up. You will be notified within two business days that your account is ready along with information on how to create a password and profile (see below for keeping your profile private).

Non-Members

How to complete the resulting "Your Profile" screen:

  1. Enter all required (starred) fields
  2. Select the appropriate option from the "I am a" box at the bottom of the screen
  3. Select "Update profile"
  4. Look for the "User account created" message, complete your profile, change and re-enter your password
  5. Select "Update profile" again
  6. Look for the "Your profile was updated" message

Password

What to do if you forget your password, or you'd like to retrieve it for the first time:

  1. Select "My Login" at the top of the screen
  2. Select "Forgot Password"
  3. Enter your login (your e-mail address) on the "Recover Your Password" page
  4. Select "Submit"
  5. Check your e-mail in box for a message containing your login and a system-generated password

How to change your password:

  1. Login
  2. Look for the "Welcome your name" message at the top of the screen and select "Dashboard"
  3. Select "Edit Profile" from the left of the screen
  4. Enter a new password in both fields under "Change Password"
  5. Select "Update Profile"
  6. Look for the "Your profile was updated" message

Events

How to register for an MCF program or event:

  1. Login
  2. Look for the "Welcome your name" message at the top of the screen
  3. Select "Events" from the top of the screen
  4. From the resulting "Events Calendar," select an event by clicking on the event name (which links to more information)
  5. Select "Register"
  6. Complete all required (starred) fields and select the appropriate option from the "Registration
    Fee" box
  7. If you have dietary or any other special needs, please make a note of them in the "Additional Info" box
  8. Select "Continue"
  9. Select the appropriate payment option and completed all required fields
  10. Select "Submit"
  11. Look for the "You have been registered" message and watch for a confirmation e-mail with event details

Privacy

MCF Members can opt to remain completely private on the web site. If you do so, you will not show up in the online Member Directory or be included in any displayed network rosters. When other MCF members search for you in the Member Directory, they will not find you.

How to turn on privacy:

  1. Login
  2. Look for the "Welcome your name" message at the top of the screen
  3. Select "Dashboard" at the top of the screen
  4. Select "Edit Profile" on the left of the screen
  5. On the resulting "Your Profile" screen, check the "Private Profile" box under "Privacy"
  6. Select "Update Profile"
  7. Look for the "Your profile was updated" message

How to turn off privacy:

  1. Login
  2. Look for the "Welcome your name" message at the top of the screen
  3. Select "Dashboard" at the top of the screen
  4. Select "Edit Profile" on the left of the screen
  5. On the resulting "Your Profile" screen, uncheck the "Private Profile" box under "Privacy"
  6. Select "Update Profile"
  7. Look for the "Your profile was updated" message

Communication, News and Resource Preferences

Users of MCF's new web site, should select the publications they want to receive from MCF, the types of news they will see when logged in and the resources they want to hear about.

How to change your communications, news and resource preferences:

  1. Login
  2. Look for the "Welcome your name" message at the top of the screen
  3. Select "Dashboard" at the top of the screen
  4. Select "Edit Profile" on the left of the screen
  5. On the resulting "Your Profile" screen, under "Connect with the Latest," select or unselect the publications you want to receive from MCF
  6. Under "Customize Your News and Resources," select or unselect the types of News and Resources you want to see on your Dashboard
  7. Under "Event Interest," select or unselect the types of Events you want to see on your Dashboard
  8. Select "Update Profile"
  9. Look for the "Your profile was updated" message

Searching MCF's Member Directory

MCF members can search the Member Directory for information on MCF members and member organizations. If you can't find information on someone you know is a member, they have likely set their profile to private (see above).

How to search the directory:

  1. Login
  2. Look for the "Welcome your name" message at the top of the screen
  3. Select "Grantmakers"
  4. Select "Member Directory" from the left of the screen
  5. Enter a member's name or organization
  6. Select "Search" (the search can be slow, so please be patient)
  7. If the member or organization is found, the "Individual" and "Organization" tabs at the bottom of the screen will reflect that
  8. Click on the name of the member or organization, and you will see contact information. (If you can't find information on someone you know is a member, they have likely set their profile to private.)

Job Posting

You can advertise open positions on MCF's Jobs Board. MCF members can post jobs free of charge, but they must log in to the site first for the website to recognize that they are a member. Non-members can post positions for 30 days ($100) or longer.

How to post a job:

  1. If you are an MCF member, login to the site first in order to receive your free posting rate. Non-members do not need to login to the site in order to create a posting.
  2. From the Homepage, select "Jobs Board" from the lower, right corner of the screen
  3. Select "Post a Job"
  4. On the "Post a Job Opening" screen, complete all fields
  5. If you want to format your posting, click on "Formatting Help" for instructions. Or see a full list of editing options on Wikipedia.
  6. Select "Preview"
  7. If you need to make changes, scroll down, make your edits and select "Preview. Do this until you are satisfied with your posting.
  8. Select "Submit"
  9. If you are not an MCF member, you will be prompted to enter payment information; select the appropriate option and completed all required fields
  10. Look for the "Thanks for posting a job" message
