MCF Member Briefing: GroundBreak Coalition

MCF invites all members to join Tonya Allen, President, McKnight Foundation for an exclusive briefing on the GroundBreak Coalition. Learn about project progress and explore opportunities for partnerships. MCF members will have an opportunity following Tonya’s presentation to engage the McKnight team with questions. 

GroundBreak Coalition is comprised of corporate, civic, and philanthropic leaders committed to building a region that is dramatically more inclusive, racially equitable, and climate ready. Formed after the murder of George Floyd and a global pandemic that caused disproportionate harm to BIPOC communities, we are aligning resources and creating new systems to unlock capital. Our strategy to build BIPOC wealth through homeownership, entrepreneurship, commercial development and rental housing uses a targeted universalist approach focused on Black wealth builders. By fundamentally changing how capital is deployed in our region, our goal is to permanently close racial wealth gaps so every person, no matter their race or background, has the opportunity to share in the region's prosperity.
