MCF Member Briefing: Understanding Approaches for Bridging Across Difference

All MCF members are invited to join the steering committee of the Rural and Urban Bridging for Impact initiative for this special briefing. We will be joined by Ellen Wolter, Assistant Extension Professor at the University of Minnesota and David MuCullough, Co-founder and CEO at the American Exchange Project.

Our guests share a commitment to bridging across difference. Their distinct approaches will be sure to educate and inspire MCF members. Ellen’s work at U of M Extension has defined avenues for shifting the rural-urban discussion toward an appreciation for interdependence. Meanwhile, David’s work at American Exchange Project is building bridges across the ideological divide through high school exchange programs that aim to build common ground one student, one high school, and one hometown at a time.

The Rural Urban Bridging for Impact steering committee looked to the work of The Othering and Belonging Institute to help frame this conversation. While the committee recognizes that othering takes place across all forms of difference, they note that addressing perceived rural and urban divisions will advance belonging more broadly. This briefing will be a rich conversation for everyone.

Log-in details will be provided in your confirmation email. For additional information, please reach out to David Anderson, danderson@mcf.org.
