Training and Professional Development

  • National Center for Family Philanthropy: NCFP is a national source of knowledge and expertise that advocates for the value of family philanthropy. NCFP programming is offered as an exclusive benefit to MCF members. NCFP provides research and learning opportunities that assist family foundations in achieving positive impact to the communities they serve.

  • Training Videos for Community Foundations: CFExpress Training is an affordable fifteen video series covering various aspects of community foundation work – from asset development and grants program design to fiduciary and policy matters. This training is appropriate for new or seasoned staff or board members. MCF members pay a discounted fee of $2,000 for the first year of an organizational license.

  • National Listserv for Community Foundation CEOs: Community foundation CEOs from across the country actively use this listserv, hosted by United Philanthropy Forum, to pose questions, engage in conversations and more.

Professional Services

  • Below-Market-Rate Legal Support: Attorneys at the Foundation Legal Help Desk, operated by the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance, offer specialized knowledge related to grantmaking, scholarships, fund management, planned giving, nonprofit law, the Pension Protection Act, UPMIFA and other laws that affect the operations of a foundation. The cost is based on inquiries per year: $1,000 for 5 inquiries/year; $1,700 for 10 inquiries/year; $2,500 for unlimited access.

  • Organizational Insurance: Access premium pricing from Great American Insurance Group on D&O Liability, fiduciary liability, employment practices liability, cyber liability and more.

  • PRI Templates: Purchase low-cost legal templates to use for financial investments structured as program related investments. 

  • Grant Intermediary Services: MCF members may contract with MCF for grant intermediary services.
