Job Summary:

The Grants Associate working under the Grants and Compliance Officer will be responsible for developing, administering, and monitoring new and existing Youthprise grant programs and other strategic investments and partnerships. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Compensation:

This is a full-time exempt role with an annual pay range of $46,752.81 - $51,606.36, depending on qualifications, paid at a rate of $1,798.18 – $1,984.86 per bi-weekly pay period.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists with administering grant programs, including grant application/proposal review and processing, payment processing, grant program oversight and monitoring, grant portal management, evaluation, data collection, and reporting.
  • Provides excellent support and relationship-building with diverse stakeholders, including current and prospective grantees and partners.
  • Organizes and coordinates grantee convenings and information sessions.
  • Assists with the development of strategic partnerships.
  • Monitors and aligns processes and practices with organizational strategic framework and theory of change
  • Works with the evaluation team to conduct research, compile data, and prepare reports for consideration and presentation to leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Attends Board, committee meetings, or other meetings as requested.
  • Monitors grants for compliance with rules, regulations, or requirements related to federal, state, and local government units. 
  • Partners with the youth engagement manager to recruit and support youth teams to review grant applications, design rating rubrics, organize the selection process, and notify grant awardees.
  • Monitors contracts and partnership agreements.
  • Works with the finance team to monitor and track payment schedules.
  • Organizes and schedules meetings and trainings with grantees, including coordination of meeting space, ordering food, and gathering materials.
  • Maintains regular communication with grantees; ensures proper grant due diligence, and provides ongoing technical assistance.

Minimum Education and Skills:

  • Undergraduate education in: Nonprofit/Public Administration, Youth Work, Ethnic or Gender Studies, Social Work, Planning, Foundation Management or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience in philanthropy, nonprofit, or government service.
  • Experience working with youth and basic knowledge of positive youth development practices.
  • Understanding of disparities and issues of equity in our region.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate various responsibilities and prioritize conflicting demands and deadlines;

  • Demonstrated passion for issues surrounding youth and youth access to opportunity and success.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective relationship and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to be creative and flexible in responding to changing priorities and emerging needs.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized.

Working Conditions and Environment:

Required:

  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends, if necessary. 5% or less
  • Ability to travel occasionally (15%) ; mostly in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, but travel within the state is possible.

This is a hybrid position with the in-office component in an accessible office building that is smoke-free.

  • Work is performed in an office setting, where the incumbent may be exposed to noise and a regular flow of people. Headaches, eyestrain, and other related occupational hazards reflect the most common potential for injury. Work is light duty and sedentary, with the ability to lift, carry, or push during setup for meetings and events.
  • This position may be frequently exposed to mental effort and stress is assigned to changing priorities, and performs work requiring attention to detail under deadlines.
  • The ability to operate and interact with computers or other office equipment via keyboard, mouse, or touch screen is required.
