Equitable Economic & Disaster Recovery
MCF is committed to supporting equitable economic and disaster recovery.
This priority is heavily influenced by MCF’s participation in the Philanthropic Preparedness, Resilience, and Emergency Partnership (PPREP), led by The Funders Network and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy. The Minnesota Disaster Recovery Working Group, which formed as a result of MCF member participation in PPREP, helps guide MCF’s actions and priorities.
MCF has supported state-level improvements to the disaster system and has also engaged heavily in COVID-19 related disaster recovery efforts. This includes advocating for adequate state funds to respond to disasters as well as encouraging additional state investments in the coordination of nonprofit organizations active in disaster and the volunteers they organize. MCF’s focus on disaster recovery helped us to organize COVID-19 related pooled funds, including the Minnesota Disaster Recovery Fund and the Supporting Equitable Recovery via Intermediary Capacity Efforts (SERVICE) Fund.
